Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet

Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet in Military Red.

You can't move for a matte liquid lipstick and considering the high street was the first to respond to the trend it begs the questions whether premium offerings are worth the extra money.

In the case of Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet there are 14 shades and it's a colour range that actually ticks the nude and natural box, while also delivering on the darker, more intense shades. Unlike other liquid lipsticks the formulas between the light and dark are comparable. I've noticed that other brands struggle with a consistency of formula and different shades within the same product family look and feel completely different. Not so here...

The Burberry Liquid Lip Velvet, £26, is clearly a designer product at a designer price. If you can afford it, go for it. I've been road-testing Military Red, Nude and Fawn Rose and have had equal success with each shade - long wear, comfort and a pleasing intensity of colour. But that's nearly £80 of lipstick and I wager you can find similar colours with equal staying power on the high street.

If money wasn't an issue I'd buy all 14 shades, but I don't even want to tot up what that would come to...

I really rate these liquid lipsticks, but if you're going to splurge on designer makeup I would always steer you towards the foundations, concealers and highlighters. In conclusion, have your colour fun at purse-friendly prices...
